Students from the Wilson Talent Center’s BioScience Careers, Engineering, Precision Machining, and Welding programs recently took learning beyond the classroom during National Manufacturing Week.
In partnership with the Capital Area Manufacturing Council, students toured local industry leaders, including:
- Lansing Board of Water & Light
- Reinmetall
- Campbell Press Repair
- Neogen
- Niowave
- Cameron Tool
- Ionetix Corporation
- Gestamp
These immersive visits allowed students to step onto the production floor, meet with professionals, ask questions, and learn what it takes to thrive in modern manufacturing careers—from safety protocols and sustainability to robotics and quality control. Each stop highlighted the variety of paths available in the skilled trades and STEM fields—while reinforcing the real-world relevance of their coursework at WTC.
Field trips like these help bridge classroom learning with career readiness, fueling interest, confidence, and ambition for what's ahead.
