Hands-on learning, future planning and community connection were all on display during a series of recent events at Wilson Talent Center.
Earlier this month, Wilson Talent Center hosted its Year-End Student Showcase, welcoming families, community members and supporters to celebrate the accomplishments and hard work of students across a variety of career and technical education programs.
The showcase gave visitors the opportunity to explore student projects, demonstrations and interactive learning experiences spanning multiple career pathways. From healthcare and skilled trades to business, culinary arts and science-focused programs, students shared the knowledge and technical skills they have developed throughout the school year.
Events like the showcase help students build confidence while giving families and community members a firsthand look at the career-focused, hands-on learning opportunities available through Wilson Talent Center programs.
Career and technical education programs provide students with opportunities to connect classroom learning to real-world careers while developing technical, academic and employability skills that prepare them for both college and the workforce. According to Advance CTE, students who participate in high-quality career and technical education programs are more likely to graduate prepared for future careers and postsecondary success.
In addition to celebrating current student learning, Wilson Talent Center also partnered with Lansing Community College to help seniors prepare for their next chapter after graduation.
Representatives from Lansing Community College recently visited Wilson Talent Center to assist seniors with registering for college classes, helping students navigate enrollment steps and prepare for the transition to postsecondary education.
The registration support event provided students with direct access to guidance and resources while helping reduce barriers that can sometimes make the college enrollment process feel overwhelming.
Together, the showcase and college registration efforts reflected Wilson Talent Center’s continued commitment to helping students explore career pathways, gain hands-on experience and confidently prepare for their futures after high school.
