Six Welding Technology students from Wilson Talent Center recently had the chance to job shadow at MacAllister Machinery/Michigan CAT in Lansing. This immersive experience offered a behind-the-scenes look at real work environments within the skilled trades and heavy machinery industry.
Under the guidance of Welding Technology Instructor Nick Good, students participate in a variety of job shadows throughout the year. These opportunities are designed to help them explore potential career paths, observe workplace culture, and see what it takes to thrive in high-demand trades.
Hands-on exposure like this is critical to helping students connect classroom learning with real-world application—and to imagine what’s possible beyond graduation.
A huge thank you goes out to the business partners who make these learning experiences possible. By opening their doors, they’re opening students' eyes to exciting career opportunities across Michigan’s skilled trades.
