The sparks were flying at the Ironworkers Local 25 Welding Competition in Wixom, where twelve second-year Wilson Talent Center welding students put their skills to the test. Representing districts across Michigan, participants had just 60 minutes to complete the challenge—facing four weld positions: flat, horizontal, overhead, and vertical.

Hosted in partnership with the Ironworkers Local 25 apprenticeship program, the competition provided hands-on exposure to industry standards and career possibilities in the skilled trades. As hosts hyped up the crowd, students showcased their technical abilities, teamwork, and readiness for real-world job opportunities.

Three WTC students earned top-five finishes:
Nathan Precise – 1st Place
Sean Goff – 3rd Place
Josh Boschma – 4th Place

Special thanks to Welding Instructor Nick Good and Instructional Assistant Craig Barnes for providing guidance, encouragement, and opportunity every step of the way.
