Earlier this November, Ingham ISD brought elementary teachers from across the region together at the Greater Lansing Association of Realtors for a professional learning session focused on foundational writing instruction.

The event, facilitated by Ingham ISD literacy coaches Heidi Gascon and Katherine Andersen, provided actionable strategies for teaching revision, strengthening sentence construction, and supporting students as they move from drafting to polished pieces. Educators explored evidence-based tools that help writers of all levels grow their confidence, clarity, and creativity.

This professional development is part of Ingham ISD’s ongoing commitment to literacy leadership and high-quality instruction in every classroom. Sessions like these highlight the importance of lifelong learning—for students and teachers alike.
