A commitment to preparing students for meaningful employment has earned Spartan Project SEARCH statewide recognition.
Spartan Project SEARCH recently received an Excellent Outcomes Award for achieving a 70–90% successful hiring rate among participants in its 2024–25 cohort, a significant milestone that reflects the impact of collaborative, career-focused transition programming.
The award was presented during Project SEARCH Michigan's annual outcomes recognition event, where programs from across the state gathered to celebrate student success and share best practices for workforce development and inclusion.
For the Spartan Project SEARCH team, the recognition represents far more than a percentage. It reflects the determination of students who committed themselves to developing workplace skills, the instructors who guided them, and the business partners who opened doors to real-world learning and employment opportunities.
Project SEARCH is a nationally recognized transition-to-work program designed to help young adults with disabilities gain the skills, confidence, and experience needed for competitive employment. Through immersive workplace internships, employability training, and individualized support, participants spend an academic year building practical skills in authentic work environments.
The award comes on the heels of another exciting milestone for the Spartan Project SEARCH team.
Earlier this month, staff traveled to St. Louis, Missouri, to participate in the Project SEARCH International Conference, where educators, business partners, and transition specialists from around the world gathered to exchange ideas, learn from one another, and explore innovative approaches to employment preparation.
The conference provided opportunities for professional learning, networking, and collaboration that will help strengthen Project SEARCH programs throughout Michigan and continue improving outcomes for future participants.
By combining strong partnerships, high expectations, workplace experience, and individualized support, Spartan Project SEARCH continues to demonstrate what is possible when students are empowered to pursue meaningful careers and independent futures.
As the program celebrates this latest recognition, its focus remains unchanged: helping students discover their strengths, develop valuable workplace skills, and successfully transition into competitive employment and community life.
For the students, families, educators, and employers who make the program possible, the Excellent Outcomes Award serves as a reminder that success is built through collaboration—and that every employment opportunity created represents a life-changing step forward.
