Thirty aspiring chefs from the Wilson Talent Center’s Culinary Arts program attended the Michigan Hospitality Foundation’s ProStart Bootcamp—a fast-paced, hands-on learning experience designed to prepare students for the upcoming ProStart competition.

Throughout the day, students rotated through skill stations focused on:

  • Culinary techniques and knife skills

  • Tabletop design and food presentation

  • Time management and kitchen leadership

  • Teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking

This experience didn’t just test technical skills—it built confidence. Students collaborated under pressure, received real-time coaching, and began visualizing their potential paths in the hospitality industry.

It’s all part of WTC’s commitment to work-based learning and career readiness: giving students opportunities to explore, experiment, and excel.
