For students pursuing careers in healthcare, moments like this matter.
More than 30 Wilson Talent Center health science students recently competed at the HOSA State Leadership Conference in Traverse City—an event that brings together top-performing students from across Michigan to test their skills, knowledge, and professionalism in real-world healthcare scenarios.
Held April 16–17 at the Grand Traverse Resort, the conference challenges students through competitive events, hands-on demonstrations, and leadership experiences designed to reflect the expectations of the healthcare field.
And Wilson Talent Center students rose to the challenge.
Three students from the Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation program placed in the top eight in their respective categories:
- Clare P. (Sports Medicine)
- Piper P. (Physical Therapy)
- Aubrey M. (Occupational Therapy)
For Aubrey, the moment went even further.
She earned a first-place gold medal—securing her spot at the HOSA International Leadership Conference this June in Indianapolis, where top students from across the country (and beyond) will compete at the highest level.
But beyond placements and medals, experiences like this are about something bigger.
HOSA—Future Health Professionals—is designed to prepare students for careers in healthcare through real-world application, leadership development, and hands-on learning.
That means students aren’t just learning concepts.
They’re practicing them.
Applying them.
Competing with them.
And in the process, building the confidence and capability to step into high-demand careers that impact lives every day.
Because success in healthcare doesn’t start in the workplace.
It starts here.
