There’s a big difference between talking about the future… and practicing for it.
At Wilson Talent Center, second-year Educational Careers students had the opportunity to do exactly that through mock interviews—stepping into real-world scenarios that required them to think on their feet, communicate clearly, and show up with confidence.
But this wasn’t just a one-day experience.
Leading up to the interviews, students developed professional resumes and cover letters—learning how to articulate their strengths, experiences, and goals. Then, sitting across from mentors and professionals, they put those skills into action.
Answering real questions.
Receiving real feedback.
Building real confidence.
Because moments like these matter.
They give students a safe space to try, refine, and grow—before the stakes feel high. They help bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-life expectations. And maybe most importantly, they remind students that they are capable of more than they think.
This experience was made possible by mentors who volunteered their time to sit across the table, ask thoughtful questions, and offer meaningful feedback—creating an environment where students felt supported, challenged, and seen.
And while the setting may have been a classroom, the impact reaches far beyond it.
Across Ingham ISD, experiences like this reflect a larger commitment: preparing students not just academically, but practically—for life beyond school.
