At Ingham Intermediate School District, Project SEARCH interns work alongside dedicated mentors and managers who offer clear, consistent, and honest feedback. This guidance not only boosts skill development and confidence but also fosters stronger communication and a sense of purpose.

As Brene Brown says, "Clear is kind." Interns are encouraged to embrace feedback as a tool for progress, focusing on specific behaviors, balancing strengths with growth areas, and receiving actionable suggestions for improvement. These steps empower interns to take ownership of their learning, develop professional habits, and prepare for real-world employment.

One such success story is Jacob Reyes, a 2024 Project SEARCH graduate who was recently honored as Project SEARCH Alumni of the Month. Jacob now serves as a Stewardship Associate at the Lee Health Foundation, where he coordinates activities, supports donor appreciation, and assists with administrative planning.

Jacob credits Project SEARCH for helping him develop the skills and confidence he uses daily in his role. Known for his positive attitude and strong relationships with coworkers, Jacob is passionate about creating meaningful connections. His advice to current interns?

“Keep an open mind and don’t be afraid of change. Staying positive and being willing to help others can make a huge difference!”

When he's not working, Jacob enjoys watching anime, dancing, and voice acting—and dreams of one day visiting Tokyo.
