Preparation is one of the most powerful forms of protection.

On February 23, the Ingham ISD Safety Team welcomed more than 80 district leaders, law enforcement officers, and school personnel from across the state for training in the Standard Response Protocol (SRP), presented by The “I Love U Guys” Foundation.

The training focused on the importance of using common, consistent language during emergencies. When everyone—from administrators to first responders to classroom teachers—understands the same terminology and procedures, response becomes clearer, faster, and more effective.

Participants explored the different types of emergency responses, including how and when each protocol is activated. Beyond understanding the terminology, attendees learned how to train staff and students to recognize and apply these protocols in real-world scenarios.

The goal is simple but critical: reduce confusion during high-stress situations and empower school communities to act quickly and confidently.

By bringing together education leaders and law enforcement partners, Ingham ISD reinforced a shared commitment to proactive safety planning. Because recovery may begin after a crisis—but preparedness begins long before one.
