Step inside the Precision Machining Technology lab at Wilson Talent Center and you’ll see more than machines—you’ll see futures in motion.
Recently, students had the opportunity to walk through a typical day in the lab with Terrell S., who offered a closer look at how projects come together from start to finish. From locating tools using organized indexing systems to preparing materials and equipment, every step requires focus, accuracy, and technical understanding.
Precision machining isn’t just about operating equipment. It’s about problem-solving. It’s about reading measurements, understanding tolerances, and applying math and mechanical concepts in real time. It’s about learning to think critically while working with powerful tools and technology.
Through hands-on projects and skill-building experiences, students develop both technical expertise and workplace habits—attention to detail, safety awareness, organization, and teamwork.
Programs like Precision Machining Technology give students a direct pathway into high-demand skilled trades careers. They graduate not only with knowledge, but with practical experience that mirrors real industry environments.
In the lab, precision matters. And so does preparation.
