Screens are part of growing up now.

Phones. Tablets. Laptops. Gaming systems.
They’re how students learn, connect, unwind—and sometimes, how they struggle.

That’s exactly why Ingham ISD and Okemos Public Schools are inviting families into the conversation.

Later this month, the community is invited to a free screening of Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age, a documentary that explores how technology impacts stress, anxiety, and overall well-being in young people. The film takes a closer look at what life is like for today’s “screenagers,” and more importantly, what adults can do to support healthier habits and emotional resilience.

Because the challenge isn’t just screen time—it’s how screens shape everything from sleep and focus to relationships and mental health. Research continues to show that excessive or unbalanced screen use can impact development, behavior, and overall well-being in children and teens.

But this event isn’t about panic.

It’s about perspective.

Following the film, a live Q&A panel will give parents, caregivers, educators, and students a chance to reflect, ask questions, and walk away with practical strategies they can actually use in everyday life.

And that’s where the conversation continues.

Families looking for ongoing support don’t have to start from scratch. The BackPack Press Bookmarks section—especially the Health & Wellness category—offers accessible, research-informed resources designed to make topics like screen time, mental health, and digital habits easier to navigate.

Because in a world that isn’t going to get less digital…
what matters most is helping families feel more equipped.

Not overwhelmed.
