For students pursuing careers in criminal justice, professionalism matters.

Attention to detail matters.

Preparation matters.

And recently, students from the Wilson Talent Center Criminal Justice program had the opportunity to put all three to the test on one of the biggest stages in career and technical education.

Representing the Wilson Talent Center at the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference in Atlanta, Criminal Justice students joined thousands of students from across the country to showcase their technical knowledge, workplace readiness, and career-focused skills. The annual conference brings together career and technical education students nationwide to compete, collaborate, and demonstrate excellence in skilled and professional fields.

Among those representing the program was Gabriel Steadman of Fowlerville High School, who earned an impressive 94.5% score in competition, placing 16th in the nation.

For any student, competing nationally is an accomplishment.

Placing among the top competitors in the country is something even bigger.

Gabriel attended the conference alongside classmate Aiden N. of Mason High School and instructor Noel Garcia, proudly representing the Wilson Talent Center and the strength of career and technical education in mid-Michigan.

Programs like Criminal Justice at Wilson Talent Center help students move beyond textbooks and into hands-on learning experiences that build leadership, technical skills, confidence, and career readiness.

And national competitions like SkillsUSA are about more than rankings.

They are opportunities for students to test themselves, grow professionally, connect with peers from across the country, and see firsthand what is possible when hard work meets opportunity.

For Wilson Talent Center students, the trip to Atlanta was more than a conference.

It was proof that preparation in the classroom can lead to success on a national stage.

Congratulations to Gabriel, Aiden, and instructor Noel Garcia for representing the Wilson Talent Center with professionalism, determination, and pride.
