A simple “thank you” can go a long way—especially when it comes from a student.
The Michigan Department of Education is inviting families across the state to help celebrate educators through the Teacher Appreciation Month Video Project.
As part of the initiative, parents and guardians can submit a 15–30 second video of their student sharing appreciation for a teacher who has made a meaningful impact in their life.
The project aims to highlight the powerful relationships between students and educators while recognizing the lasting influence teachers have both inside and outside the classroom.
Selected videos may be featured on the Teacher Appreciation Month webpage and across the Michigan Department of Education’s social media channels throughout the month of May.
Participation is designed to be simple and accessible. Videos can be recorded using a cell phone, making it easy for families to capture authentic, heartfelt messages of appreciation.
The submission deadline is April 15, 2026, giving families time to reflect on the educators who have supported, inspired, and made a difference in their student’s journey.
By sharing these stories, the initiative helps shine a light on the everyday impact teachers have—and reminds educators just how valued they are.
