Little Explorers Returns This September at Camp Tuhsmeheta
Sometimes the best learning happens through play.
Families of children ages 0–5 who are blind or have low vision and/or deaf or hard of hearing are invited to spend a morning exploring, creating, and connecting during Little Explorers at Camp Tuhsmeheta on Saturday, September 12, from 10 a.m.–12 p.m.
Hosted by the Michigan Department of Education's Resource for Blind/Low Vision (BLV) and Resource for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) programs, this family-centered event provides opportunities for young children and their caregivers to build friendships, develop new skills, and enjoy engaging activities together in a welcoming outdoor environment.
Participants can look forward to:
- Story time
- Music and movement activities
- Hands-on crafts
- Interactive sensory experiences
- Time to connect with other families raising young children with similar experiences
Siblings are welcome to attend, making the event a fun morning for the whole family.
Little Explorers is designed not only to support children's early learning and development but also to create opportunities for families to share experiences, build community, and begin the school year with encouragement and connection.

There was no shortage of smiles at Heartwood School as students and staff came together for a summer foam party. Filled with music, laughter, and plenty of bubbles, the event celebrated the joy of being together while creating unforgettable end-of-summer memories.
