Summer often brings excitement for kids.

Longer days. More time outside. Fewer schedules.

But for many families, it can also bring an added challenge: making sure children continue to have access to nutritious meals when school cafeterias close for the season.

That is where Michigan’s Meet Up and Eat Up program comes in.

Available throughout communities across Michigan, the program provides free meals to children and teens ages 18 and under during the summer months. Families can visit participating meal sites for nutritious breakfasts, lunches, snacks, or dinners depending on location—with no registration, paperwork, or income requirements at many sites.

Across the Ingham ISD service area, families can access summer meal opportunities designed to help ensure children continue receiving healthy food while school is out.

Some communities may also offer SUN Meals To-Go options and information about SUN Bucks, a summer grocery benefit program available to eligible families to help offset food costs during the summer months.

Meal locations, dates, and times vary by community, which is why families are encouraged to check official meal site finders for locations near them.

Because no child should spend summer worrying about where lunch is coming from.

And no family should have to navigate that challenge alone.

Families can find nearby meal sites through Michigan’s Meet Up and Eat Up locator and learn more about available summer food supports through the Michigan Department of Education.
