Students in the Patient Care Technician (PCT) program at the Wilson Talent Center (WTC) teamed up with Versiti Blood Center of Michigan to host a themed blood drive—this time with a Cinco de Mayo twist.
Classrooms were transformed into donation stations decorated with vibrant colors, traditional textiles, and snack tables full of festive treats. But the real celebration was in the purpose: saving lives through blood donation.
WTC’s PCT program gives students real-world clinical training and experience in healthcare environments, and this event was no exception. Students played key roles in greeting donors, assisting professionals, managing flow, and ensuring the day ran smoothly. It was a perfect opportunity to put their communication, organization, and patient care skills into practice—while making a measurable impact on the community.
Events like this reflect WTC’s broader mission to provide students with immersive, purpose-driven experiences that extend beyond the classroom. The bonus? A few nervous smiles gave way to plenty of proud ones.
