At Wilson Talent Center, learning doesn’t stop at the textbook.

Recently, BioScience Careers students had the opportunity to engage directly with professionals from Neogen, a Lansing-based company that provides data-driven solutions and services for the food safety and animal health industries.

The visit began with a career-focused presentation, giving students insight into industry pathways, workplace expectations, and the wide range of roles available in bioscience-related fields. From laboratory work to data analysis and quality assurance, students learned how their classroom skills translate into meaningful careers.

Then came the hands-on experience.

Students participated in a lab activity alongside Neogen guests, applying scientific techniques in real time. Wearing lab coats and gloves, they worked through procedures, asked questions, and collaborated in ways that mirror professional environments.

Experiences like this help bridge the gap between education and industry. They allow students to see not only what they’re learning—but why it matters.

By partnering with local companies, Wilson Talent Center continues to create authentic, career-connected opportunities that prepare students for success beyond graduation.

Because when students can connect learning to real-world impact, their future comes into focus.
