In late January 2025, Fowlerville Elementary School welcomed students into a brand-new building, marking a significant milestone in the district's commitment to providing quality education. The new facility offers a fresh, inviting atmosphere where students feel supported and comfortable while they learn.

Principal Ross Richard emphasized the student-centered approach taken during the school's development, stating, "This has always been focused on, what can we do for the kiddos? What’s best for the kiddos?"

Students have expressed excitement about their new surroundings. "I love learning in the new school," said Mason Goodwin, a Fowlerville Elementary student. Classmate Amber Hornback added, "It’s fun! ... Because we’ve never been here, and we can do a bunch of new things.

The building features modern classrooms equipped with interchangeable desks, allowing teachers to adapt the learning environment to meet students' needs. "In our classrooms, all the desks are interchangeable; they can be made into different configurations," explained Student Support Specialist Molly Molton. "So when a teacher sees that something isn’t working to the best of the potential for the students, she can move things around.

The new school also addresses previous space limitations. "There was a point where they were at maximum capacity at our old building, and a lot of times we had intervention teachers that were helping our struggling readers, and they were working in closets that had no windows," Molton noted.

To further enhance literacy, the school has implemented a new program called Magnetic, focusing on phonics skills and writing. Assistant Superintendent of Academics Adva Ringle observed, "We’ve seen their writing improve tremendously from the beginning of the year to even mid-year."

The new Fowlerville Elementary School stands as a testament to the district's dedication to fostering an environment where students can thrive academically and personally.
