Wilson Talent Center recently welcomed Congressman Tom Barrett for a firsthand look at the powerful Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs shaping the future workforce of Ingham County.
During CTE Month, the visit provided a meaningful opportunity to showcase the hands-on learning experiences taking place every day inside the building. From advanced technology labs to career-focused classrooms, students demonstrated how CTE connects academic knowledge with practical skills that translate directly into real-world careers.
Throughout the visit, educators and students shared insights into how programs are designed to meet current industry needs while equipping learners with problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and professional readiness. Conversations centered on workforce development, community partnerships, and how local investment in CTE strengthens both students and the broader regional economy.
Wilson Talent Center continues to serve as a hub where students explore career pathways, earn certifications, and gain experience that positions them for success after graduation—whether entering the workforce, pursuing apprenticeships, or continuing their education.
Visits like this help elevate the importance of Career & Technical Education and reinforce the value of preparing students with skills that are relevant, rigorous, and responsive to community needs.
