The Wilson Talent Center’s Medical Assisting program recently delivered more than just treats—they delivered meaningful moments of connection.
In celebration of the season, students visited Safe Haven Assisted Living in Mason to practice their conversational and interpersonal skills with senior residents. While designed as a clinical learning opportunity to support communication across diverse patient populations, the visit quickly turned into something much more: a joyful, intergenerational experience full of laughter, learning, and compassion.
To make the day even more special, students created “Boo Baskets” filled with cozy items to brighten the residents’ afternoon. From sharing stories to swapping smiles, the day bridged generational gaps and built bridges of empathy between future healthcare professionals and their community.
It was a win-win: students gained real-world experience in communication and empathy, while residents enjoyed social connection and the joy of being seen and celebrated.
A special thanks goes out to the residents for generously sharing their time, wisdom, and Halloween cheer with the next generation of caregivers.
