On October 22, 2024, nearly 400 community members joined WKAR at the Impression 5 Science Center in Lansing for "Be My Neighbor Day." The event featured appearances by beloved PBS KIDS characters Daniel Tiger and Katerina Kittycat, interactive StoryTime sessions with Mrs. Pizzo, and various activities promoting kindness and neighborliness. Families explored the science center, engaged with community organizations, and received free books and giveaways. The event emphasized the importance of community connections and fostering a caring environment for children.

Their staff has invested countless hours into this work, reviewing data, collaborating on goals, and engaging in professional development alongside Ingham ISD’s PBIS and School Improvement coaches. This partnership ensures Wilkshire’s efforts are intentional, sustainable, and always centered on student success. The result is a program worth celebrating and one we hope inspires other schools across the region.
