Exploring career pathways becomes even more powerful when students can learn directly from those working in the field.

Wilson Talent Center’s Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation program brought that experience to life during its recent Athletic Training Month Open House.

The event featured a keynote presentation from Dr. Kevin Guskiewicz, President of Michigan State University and a 2020 National Athletic Trainers’ Association Hall of Fame inductee. His insights offered students a unique perspective on leadership, education, and the evolving role of athletic training in health and wellness.

Students also heard from a panel of professionals representing multiple levels of the field, including faculty from Grand Valley State University’s Athletic Training programs, leadership from Adrian College, and members of the Michigan Athletic Trainers Society.

Throughout the event, students had the opportunity to engage with speakers, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of the skills, education, and mindset required for success in athletic training.

In addition to hearing from guest speakers, the open house welcomed local athletic trainers and advisory board members, creating meaningful connections between students and professionals currently working in the industry.

Experiences like this provide valuable insight beyond the classroom, helping students better understand potential career paths and the real-world applications of their learning.

The event also highlighted the strength of Wilson Talent Center’s Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation program and the dedication of its educators. Special recognition was given to instructor Daryn Baker for organizing the experience and creating an opportunity for students to connect with leaders in the field.
