For students with special needs, access to the right tools can unlock not just opportunity—but possibility. At Ingham ISD, Adaptive Physical Education and Physical Therapy teams are working together to help students across the county grow stronger, gain confidence, and participate fully in school life.
These specialists support more than 6,700 students receiving special education services throughout Ingham County. Whether it’s helping a student improve coordination, navigate sensory challenges, or build trust in their abilities, the focus is always on supporting the whole child.
Not all intermediate school districts offer Adaptive Physical Education, but Ingham ISD proudly provides these services at Beekman Center, Heartwood School, North Star School, and SAIL, as well as within local districts. Every tool—from adaptive trikes to specialized strength routines—is selected with intention and care.
Together, these efforts create more inclusive spaces where every learner has the chance to move, grow, and reach their limitless potential.
